Managing Mobility
Mobility, or the movement of pupils between schools, particularly in the middle of term, can be disruptive to the smooth running of a school and unsettling for both pupils and staff. This is an increasingly challenging issue and Sage schools have signed up to a Code of Practice to minimise the movement of pupils between local schools.
A wide range of skills has been developed within Sage schools to manage mobile pupils effectively and ensure that mobility does not have a negative impact on their levels of achievement. The Good Practice Guide, 'Managing Mobility', contains positive and effective ideas on how to tackle mobility. There is also a checklist for class teachers and classroom assistants to remind them of their roles and responsibilities in welcoming a new pupil and a Questionnaire for the new pupil to complete six weeks after their arrival at the new school.
