Book Bus
The Downham Mobile Library has started a new round
of visits to five Sage schools: Downderry, Good Shepherd, Launcelot,
Merlin and Rangefield. As part of the project each school should
be visited at least once this term, providing they can fit the bus
in! On their first visit to Merlin they had to temporarily remove
the wing mirrors to be able to fit the bus onto the site!
A regular rota will be drawn up, with each school
having a Monday visit every five weeks. The bus already visits Forster
Park every Tuesday, from 10-5.
It is hoped that the regular presence of the library
will motivate local children to become involved in books and reading.
There will also be the opportunity to listen to storytellers, authors
and poets. It’s not just for the children though, parents
and carers are welcome to enjoy this valuable resource as well,
so that the whole family can engage with books and reading.
