MUSIC MAESTRO!
Children from Year 5 in Torridon Primary
School took part in the 'Cause for Celebration' in January
2004, in Blackheath Conservatoire's splendid Victorian Art
Studio. The event was led by MPs Nick Raynsford and Bridget Prentice
and provided an opportunity for the Conservatoire to showcase its
'Imagine You Can...' outreach programme to invited guests.
The children, led by James Thomas from the Conservatoire, made a
great impression, performing music they had composed as part of
a project in the autumn term.
In 2004 the Conservatoire ran a music
enrichment programme in six Sage primary schools - Torridon, Forster
Park, Merlin, Rangefield, Coopers Lane and Downderry. Each school
enjoyed 10 half-day sessions, designed to enhance existing strengths
and to bring new ideas to classroom music activities. There were
also half-day INSETs for teachers and the opportunity to take part
in other performances during the year.
