Projects for Parents
The Sage Educational Trust does not work exclusively with children, but
recognises the importance of involving all members of the family, indeed,
all members of the community. As a result, Sage has developed and run various
projects for community and family support, as well as extending some projects
to include adult family members.

IT Training and Laptop Loan Scheme for EAL Parents
Sage has started
an initiative to provide training and access to IT to families who
have English as an Additional Language (EAL). The laptops are loaded
with software that enables families to improve their English Language
skills and gives them access to information about schools and the curriculum.
The initial programme started in a number of local schools in September
2009 and included IT training sessions for EAL parents over a half
term. During the period over which the training took place,
the parents attending could borrow a laptop to use at home.
Schools have elected a member of staff to lead the programme and
someone who can provide IT support. Sage is able to reimburse any
additional costs incurred for delivery of the programme, or possibly to
provide a tutor to deliver the programme. Sage is also providing
the loan laptops.
