Frylands Wood Scout Outdoor Centre

As part of Sage's Healthy Communities programme, which aims to get local people more active, around 120 children have so far enjoyed trips to the Frylands Wood Scout Outdoor Centre. Four local schools, Forster Park, Athelney, Elfrida and Haseltine, have taken children along, as has the Sage Family Support group.

Once there, the children are split up into four groups, with a maximum of 12 per group, and each group does three one-hour activities from the list below.

Climbing - This takes place on the Fryland’s Climbing Tower, which is suitable for all ages and climbing abilities.

Archery - The archery range at Frylands can accommodate up to three archers at one time.

Photo Challenge - The Frylands’ Photo Challenge involves matching the photo to the location, which may sound easy – but the photos only show a small part of the location!

Assault Course - This is a real test of strength and stamina and can be done as a time trial or just for ‘fun’!

Orienteering - Groups can explore the Frylands campsite with an introductory orienteering map and hope to break The Frylands Code
