Dance at the NDTP

Funding from the Downham & Bellingham EAZ and the NRF provided children attending the North Downham Training Project's (NDTP) After School Club with the opportunity to take part in dance 'therapy' classes.

The children sampled different dance and music styles from contemporary to modern 'pop' songs and dance routines. They also learnt how to make music, on culturally diverse instruments, which they could march and dance to.

There was a noticeable improvement in the children's confidence, self-esteem, team working skills and co-ordination as a result of these sessions. The dance therapy classes also offered an area of enrichment that many of the children had not previously been introduced to. This widened their experiences and provided a new interest, which many found relaxing after a busy day at school.
