Umoja
In July 2003 Umoja provided two workshops
for 60 EAZ children.
They provided a 'journey through African dance and
music', with workshops and performance opportunities.
This was followed by a free matinee performance
at the Broadway Theatre, Catford.

Step
Afrika
In 2003 teachers and students from
Pendragon School were given the unique opportunity of working with
Step Afrika. This project focused on dance, poetry and music, based
on the area of Senegal in West Africa.
A tutor from Step Afrika worked with the twice-weekly
workshops, which eventually came together to form part of the final
performance at the Sadlers Wells Theatre on 28 June 2003. Parents
and staff were invited to watch and everyone, performers and audience
alike, had a great time.
The project highlighted the strengths of Pendragon
students and the range of talents in the school. The Step Afrika
staff were very supportive and really had the ability to enthuse
and motivate everyone with their passion and energy for dance, poetry
and music. The students are continually asking when they can work
with Step Afrika again, a true reflection of how successful the
project was.
