Top Ten Books

Following Sage's successful Reading Challenge, we decided to try to find out which books local children liked most of all. This is an on-going project, with more schools yet to respond, so keep checking to see who is Top of the League.

So far Roald Dahl is an absolute favourite, across all age groups, with an incredible 14 different titles by him appearing in the lists, as voted for by children from Years 2 to 6. Matilda was the favourite from amongst his books.

We're Going on a Bear Hunt, by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury was the favourite for both Reception and Year 1. Year 2 had four joint winners, with various books by Anthony Browne and Julia Donaldson, tieing with Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach and The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. Matilda by Roald Dahl was a clear winner for Year 3 and Year 4's favourite was Tracy Beaker by Jacqueline Wilson. Year 5 voted for Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz and The Wolf's Footprints by Susan Price just topped the table as Year 6's favourite.
